- Early Life
Born in Nine Mile, St Ann in an idyllic farming community, To Cedella Booker and Norval Marley.
Bob and his Mother left for Trench Town a culturally rich community in Kingston, when Bob was 12, where he further developed his musical talent, with his childhood friend Bunny Wailer.
- Ongoing Legacy
Bob Marley’s music is Social and Political charged which has also made him an cultural icon.
He was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 1994.
In 1995 his 1977 Album “Exodus” was named album of the century by Time Magazine. Hits from the album include; Natural Mystic, Jamming, One Love and Three Little Birds.
Popular song “One Love” was designated Song of the Millennium by the BBC.
In 2001 he was bestowed The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor given to “performers who during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.”
In 2001 Bob Marley was accorded the 2171st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Bob would have been 73 if he were still alive today.
He was diagnosed with Skin Cancer in 1977 and died in May 1981 in Miami .
