On the 25th of February 2015 the Jamaica House of Representatives passed legislation decriminalizing Marijuana.
It is not legal but is now a ticketable offence.
Person’s can now have up to 2 ounces in their possession and can grow up to 5 plants.
With governments worldwide recognising the benefits of this amazing plant, the Jamaican government should be taking the lead in developing an international market for Marijuana, Hemp and Nutraceutical industries.
The Cannabis Licensing Authority; a mix of government and non-government bodies has been established to develop a evidence-based legal industry in which Jamaica can develop and market products at home and abroad.
For many this recent change is long overdue, Jamaica should be educating and paving the way for other counties, but as the saying goes better late than never.
